New Boiler Replacement

When you get to the stage of needing a boiler replacement in Derby then if you'd like we can advise on whether or not you have the right type of boiler system for your needs. It can be tempting to look for a like for like swap but if you have moved into a house where you did not choose the original boiler you may not know how the previous family managed their heating and hot water and therefore what they had may be under of over your family's needs. If you are looking at a new heating system or replacing an old boiler then the most popular choice will be a gas boiler. Whilst there will be a gradual phasing out of pure gas boilers in the future they are still one of the most affordable getting heating your through out your home.

Boiler Repair

Whilst a boiler should last at least 10 years, if serviced regularly, they do work hard and often for long hours so clearly, just as you would expect from a car certain parts may start to wear and need replacing or repair. Our team we will advise carrying out boiler repairs where is makes economical sense to do so. Sometimes a repair job can run into hundreds of pounds for an older boiler and even if fixed we know it will be running inefficiently we will advise you of this and suggest that a new one may be your best option. If we can carry out a simple repair such as fitting a new pump or something else, which will at least buy you a bit of time but allow you to have your heat and warm water running again, our gas safe registered engineers experience will come in very handy!

Boiler Servicing

A very important part of boiler maintenance is having your boiler services regularly, typically you should schedule an annual boiler service. This is a very important part of maintaining the validity of your boiler manufacturer's warranty. For brands such as Worchester Bosch it wouldn't make sense to not look after your investment.  Using us it ensures that through a boiler service by a local gas safe engineer will check that your boiler is running at peak performance and therefore being as economical as possible. It also provides an opportunity to clean any additional parts, which you may have had installed with your new boiler such as a MagnaClean filter to keep all aspects of your boiler and pipework running as efficiently as possible.

Smart Heating Control

When carrying out a boiler replacement or new boiler installation in Derby we almost always install a smart thermostat controller to the boiler. These have become well publicised over recent years with Nest, Hive and Honeywell being the most well known. However, not all smart thermostat controls are compatible with all boiler makes. Again one of our gas safe registered engineers can advise and let you know what options you do have. These are becoming very popular and we are seeing an increasing number of requests to install a smart thermostat to an existing system, which is a great way to start reducing energy wastage.

Smart meters are especially useful for families or individuals who do not have their lives on a strict fixed schedule. Traditional thermostat controls will allow you to set times of the day when your radiators (and water depending on your system) come on and go off. Some older controls only allow you to have two or three on/off options in a day - with every day being the same, including weekends.

Central Heating Power Flushing

Radiator power flushing will be done as part of the installation process when installing a new gas boiler. However, if your have had your radiators in place for a while and especially if you've moving into a new  (older) house you are unlikely to know how long your radiators have been sitting there. It is very likely that your will had sludge and small particle debris running through your heating system. Most of the debris comes from the inside of radiators where over time they will start to rust and this rush gets circulated around your heating. A power flush will flush out the debris be pushing out the old water and introducing new clean water into your heating system making it run more efficiently which in turn protects your boiler. When carrying our a heating power flush it is the best time to think about installing a filter such as a MagnaClean filter which collects these particles and prevents them from circulating through the boiler. Underfloor Heating

There are two main types of underfloor heating: wet underfloor heating and electric underfloor heating. Water underfloor heating has historically been the most popular, especially when doing a complete floor or of a property. This is mainly due to the lower ongoing running costs as the warm water which runs through the pipes is fed from the central boiler system. Whilst, there is a higher installation cost for water underfloor heating it is a very efficient way of providing heat to your home.

Once heat has been conducted into the floor - such as floor tiles they retain heat well meaning that your boiler doesn't need to work as hard to keep a room warm.
